10 x 10 x 10 - Day 5

Day 5 isn't very adventurous at all.  It's Friday here, which means it's a cleaning toilets, vacuuming, dusting, washing, sort of day and I try to keep that routine going even through holidays.  My boys know what Friday is and they have jobs to do as well.  But we get up early and get stuck into it early, so that in the holidays, all the chores are out of the way - then we can do our thing for the afternoon and usually there is a bit of a treat in there, just to get us to the afternoon, just to have that lovely something to look forward to.  Today it's ice blocks and we will spread the blankets and cushions out and the boys will watch dvds, while I get a few more things done.  

Main picture - A thrifted shirt bought for my youngest - I so love this shirt on him, it's perfect but won't fit him after this summer.  All our shirts get hung on hangers to air dry in the laundry and because this was a double load, the boys shirts are hanging in various doorways.  I have mentioned previously that I am allergic to ironing.  Plus this is better for the environment too.

Today doing the housework, I have had a little candle burning.  A little candle burning for all those families returning to the place their home once stood.  Homes that will never be vacuumed again, that will never have little hand marks upon the walls, that will never hear laughter, that will never contain the delish smells of dinner cooking.  

I can't stop thinking of these families who have lost so much - I can't stop watching the news.  

I must apologise for my flat posting today, I am feeling a little *meh*.  A little bit achey head, a little bit achey ears, a little bit achey throat.  The dirty jobs are done for the day.  Later it will be folding washing and putting it away and dinner which is just home crumbed chicken tenderloins and a sort of ceasar salad mix - Joyce style.  

I am off to cut more fabric for sewing to make drawstring bags to donate to Among The Gum Trees: We need your help!!!  If you are also able to assist in some small way, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am just doing drawstring bags and filling them with the requested items.  If you can make the armchair caddies, that would be fabulous.  Just email the ladies and they will answer all your questions and give you an address to send items to.  If you cannot sew, you can still help by sending a pair of scissors, some thread and a little fabric or, there is a donate button on the blog to aid with postage of these items.

10 x 10 x 10 - Day 4

Day 4 of my project and totally loving it.  

I am becoming more and more brave with each day.  I am challenging myself to click in the strangest of places that I would never normally bother to click before.  I am noticing just how many signs there are in our shopping ctr car park.  I can tell you these photos were taken in well under 3 minutes.  Mainly because I felt like a total freak bolting about the car park full of cars clicking away at signs and paint on the road.  My boys were laughing at me and pointing out to all the signs as I went.  It's good for them to see things around them as well.  They also commented on the huge number of signs and as my youngest put it - 'instructions for what drivers have to do.'  That's is buddy, everywhere you look, there is a sign telling us what to do and what the rules are.

I Want To Help!

As I shared with you all only very recently my little made it store, I would now like to make good use of it.

I am donating $8.00 from every purchase to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal to help raise much needed money to purchase whatever is needed for those who have lost everything in the recent and continuing floods.  

I have many family and friends throughout these affected areas and although we are only a 5 hour drive away from them, I have never felt so cut-off and unable to help them, as I do right now.  I do not like feeling helpless, I do not like feeling helpless at all.

I was thinking of starting a yarn-a-thon to make blankets, I also thought of a notecard pack, consisting of notelets, envelopes, pen and stamps, then there was something as simple as lavender soap wrapped in a cotton crochet flannel.  But right now, right here and now, how do those items get through?  What vehicle other than to fly them in, can deliver these items to these people?  They need the cash, quite simply, cash is king.

10 x 10 x 10 - Day 3

I love being able to multi-task.  A spot of exercise and my 10 photos in 10 minutes.  Between bursts of rain today, we bolted out of the house with the camera and snapped 10 letterboxes.  


It's a short post today, lucky you, as I have a few things 'on the go'.  It's also hubbies 39th birthday and the chocolate cake that I made yesterday and froze is about to be shaped (ha ha ha ha 'shaped' get it!  lol) into a surfboard cake.  *Yikes* This should be 'interesting'.

10 x 10 x 10 - Day 2

Above is my 10 x 10 x 10 for today.  I must apologise as they are all indoor photos again today.  I sort of forgot about it and I rushed around the house late this afternoon with my camera on auto again.  Did not change the settings, did not line anything up.  

Main photo is a pink jacket sleeve poking out of other dark jacket sleeves hanging in my wardrobe (so pink it is).  My Mum, my sister and I have the same jacket.

6. Fave pink bangle (thrifted) and lovely jewellery pouch made by a girlfriend for my birthday 2 years ago.

7. My mobile phone which has been getting a huge workout today keeping in touch with family and friends of flood affected QLD.  The $5.00 note is my darling big boys as the tooth fairy found his big front tooth under his pillow Sunday night, it's ready for banking.

8. Madly trying to keep washing up to date, the pink pegs are currently working overtime inside at the moment.  They don't like it at all, but we all have to do things we don't like at times.  

9. My ma-ma doll dressed in a beautiful old dolls dress that belonged to my Mum.  The doll behind her is my Cindy doll, also dressed in an old dolls dress that belonged to my Mum.

This photo exercise isn't really about the photos at all, it's more sort of picture journalling.  Is there such a thing?  What will my thoughts be in years to come when I look back on this little project?  What will the next 8 days of photos show about me and the world I live in right now?  

I apologise for being so flat tonight.  I forgot about taking the photos until late and it's rather a lame line up as well, but they are done now.  I have been contacting loved ones up north and awaiting to hear they are safe and together.  

I want to do something besides watch the news and send my love and prayers.  I want to help, I want to take my linen to these families and wrap warm dry towels around their shoulders and cook them a meal.  I want to grab their photo albums and bring them to my place to store them.  I wish I had a helicopter and was wonder woman.  

My prayers and thoughts go out to all affected by these floods.  Keep yourselves safe.  To our rescue, medical, police and others helping, our prayers also go to you.

7 Interesting things about Joyce.

Good Morning blogland, I have been honoured with a little blog award thingy from my friend Jacey.  Pop over to her blog and check out her beautiful little crochet hat with flower.  Such beautifully neat work and I do so love this colour combination.  This would look fabulous against a grey sky day.

hmmmm, 7 interesting things about me, I am not sure they will be interesting but oh well here goes.  

1.  I am allergic to ironing - truly I am.  

2.  I love, love, love jammie days with my boys.  (Today is jammie day)

3.  I am not a good swimmer - at all - can't handle putting my face underwater - childhood thing that I have never outgrown.  I love my bodyboard, but won't go out where I cannot stand up.  This is not so much an interesting fact other than an embarrassing shameful fact as a Mum with two children that love the beach, but we only swim in the flags and I won't take my bodyboard when it's just me with them.  I am hawke-eye the whole time and they are restricted to staying close to me.  Luckily they are young enough it doesn't bother them, for now.  I envy seeing others diving over the waves laughing and I know I am totally missing out here, but that enclosed feeling of water swirling around my head makes me nauseas - even right now.

4.  I am not particularly fond of people who judge others by their physical appearance, or by their 'status' in the community.  

5. I have started a little made it shop (here).  I am so not ready to tell the world, but Jacey has given me courage to share it today, and I so want to share it with my friends, cause I need your honest opinion, please.  I have much more to sew and add to it, but I have already had one sale which totally blows me away.  If you remember a post I made here about jumping, then this is what I was talking about.  I went with option 1c, and I am glad I did.  Life is for living and learning.  *yikes* I would love your honest opinions re my madeit shop if you do check it out.  *sigh* I have jumped and I quite like the feeling.  Either way I have succeeded - just cause I didn't give in.  Oh and you can laugh, cause laughing is good for your health.  

6. *Ahem* My pegs are colour co-ordinated.  White pegs for indoor airer, blue pegs in caravan, pink pegs for backyard clothes line.  Prior to splitting up my pegs I would use all the same colour pegs then move onto the next colour and finally the last colour.  NEVER, EVER, did I use different coloured pegs for the same item hanging - NEVER!

7.  I eat chocolate every single day.  Sometimes a little bit and sometimes alot, but always every single day.
