10 x 10 x 10 - Day 3

I love being able to multi-task.  A spot of exercise and my 10 photos in 10 minutes.  Between bursts of rain today, we bolted out of the house with the camera and snapped 10 letterboxes.

It's a short post today, lucky you, as I have a few things 'on the go'.  It's also hubbies 39th birthday and the chocolate cake that I made yesterday and froze is about to be shaped (ha ha ha ha 'shaped' get it!  lol) into a surfboard cake.  *Yikes* This should be 'interesting'.

Thanks for stopping by my place today - keep safe and please if you have the time and some spare fabric and would like to assist in some small way to those who have lost everything, check out my post below and pass the info on to your friends in blogland as well.

Please Help

My dear blog friend Sarah has pointed me in the direction I have been searching for this morning.

Feeling rather quite helpless and wanting to do something, anything at all to help, this is what I would like to share with you.

Please click on Among The Gum Trees: We need your help!!!  to read what has been set up and if you are able to help, please post this on your blog and pass the information onto your friends and followers.

If you prefer an auction then link to make it perfect: .Queensland Flood Relief Auction #1.  I am trying to get the link on my sidebar and not sure why I cannot get it to work.  Will try again later today.

I am also currently trying to sort out my madeit store and will be donating money from sales to the flood appeal.  At this stage, I am looking at the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.  I will keep you posted.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog today.

10 x 10 x 10 - Day 2

Above is my 10 x 10 x 10 for today.  I must apologise as they are all indoor photos again today.  I sort of forgot about it and I rushed around the house late this afternoon with my camera on auto again.  Did not change the settings, did not line anything up.

Main photo is a pink jacket sleeve poking out of other dark jacket sleeves hanging in my wardrobe (so pink it is).  My Mum, my sister and I have the same jacket.

Collage.
1. Frangapani potpourri in organza bag.
2. Miss Pink - my kitchen aid.
3. Beads that belonged to my Great Aunty Ducky.
4. My little roses jewellery container from my bestest girlfriend a few years ago, along with a little thrifted bowl.
5. My itty-bitty ipod thingy.
6. Fave pink bangle (thrifted) and lovely jewellery pouch made by a girlfriend for my birthday 2 years ago.
7. My mobile phone which has been getting a huge workout today keeping in touch with family and friends of flood affected QLD.  The $5.00 note is my darling big boys as the tooth fairy found his big front tooth under his pillow Sunday night, it's ready for banking.
8. Madly trying to keep washing up to date, the pink pegs are currently working overtime inside at the moment.  They don't like it at all, but we all have to do things we don't like at times.
9. My ma-ma doll dressed in a beautiful old dolls dress that belonged to my Mum.  The doll behind her is my Cindy doll, also dressed in an old dolls dress that belonged to my Mum.

This photo exercise isn't really about the photos at all, it's more sort of picture journalling.  Is there such a thing?  What will my thoughts be in years to come when I look back on this little project?  What will the next 8 days of photos show about me and the world I live in right now?

I apologise for being so flat tonight.  I forgot about taking the photos until late and it's rather a lame line up as well, but they are done now.  I have been contacting loved ones up north and awaiting to hear they are safe and together.

I want to do something besides watch the news and send my love and prayers.  I want to help, I want to take my linen to these families and wrap warm dry towels around their shoulders and cook them a meal.  I want to grab their photo albums and bring them to my place to store them.  I wish I had a helicopter and was wonder woman.

My prayers and thoughts go out to all affected by these floods.  Keep yourselves safe.  To our rescue, medical, police and others helping, our prayers also go to you.

Thank you for stopping by my place and take care of you and yours at your place tonight.  Bless.  xx

7 Interesting things about Joyce.

Good Morning blogland, I have been honoured with a little blog award thingy from my friend Jacey.  Pop over to her blog and check out her beautiful little crochet hat with flower.  Such beautifully neat work and I do so love this colour combination.  This would look fabulous against a grey sky day.

hmmmm, 7 interesting things about me, I am not sure they will be interesting but oh well here goes.

1.  I am allergic to ironing - truly I am.

2.  I love, love, love jammie days with my boys.  (Today is jammie day)

3.  I am not a good swimmer - at all - can't handle putting my face underwater - childhood thing that I have never outgrown.  I love my bodyboard, but won't go out where I cannot stand up.  This is not so much an interesting fact other than an embarrassing shameful fact as a Mum with two children that love the beach, but we only swim in the flags and I won't take my bodyboard when it's just me with them.  I am hawke-eye the whole time and they are restricted to staying close to me.  Luckily they are young enough it doesn't bother them, for now.  I envy seeing others diving over the waves laughing and I know I am totally missing out here, but that enclosed feeling of water swirling around my head makes me nauseas - even right now.

4.  I am not particularly fond of people who judge others by their physical appearance, or by their 'status' in the community.

5. I have started a little made it shop (here).  I am so not ready to tell the world, but Jacey has given me courage to share it today, and I so want to share it with my friends, cause I need your honest opinion, please.  I have much more to sew and add to it, but I have already had one sale which totally blows me away.  If you remember a post I made here about jumping, then this is what I was talking about.  I went with option 1c, and I am glad I did.  Life is for living and learning.  *yikes* I would love your honest opinions re my madeit shop if you do check it out.  *sigh* I have jumped and I quite like the feeling.  Either way I have succeeded - just cause I didn't give in.  Oh and you can laugh, cause laughing is good for your health.

6. *Ahem* My pegs are colour co-ordinated.  White pegs for indoor airer, blue pegs in caravan, pink pegs for backyard clothes line.  Prior to splitting up my pegs I would use all the same colour pegs then move onto the next colour and finally the last colour.  NEVER, EVER, did I use different coloured pegs for the same item hanging - NEVER!

7.  I eat chocolate every single day.  Sometimes a little bit and sometimes alot, but always every single day.

Ok now I have to tag some lovely friends with this award so they can share their 7 interesting things about them.
If you are tagged below and don't wish to play, please let me know, I will not be offended at all.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a lovely day at your place and stay tuned for my 10 x 10 x 10 later today.

10 x 10 x 10 - Day 1

Oh my gosh, thank you to Alyshajane for your recommendation to use Picasa 3.  It's free, it's fast, and oh my gosh it's so pretty.

Please refer to my previous post 10 x 10 x 10 to see what all the excitement is about, and a huge thank you goes to the wonderfully talented Nancy at capable of flying for this brilliant yet simple idea.

Without further ado, here above is my first day of 10 x 10 x 10.
My camera stats are - Canon DSLR 450D
For my first day I set it to the little green square = auto.  The old point and shoot and don't think setting.  Thankgoodness for that, because I had no idea what I was doing, or what my plan of click was at all.  Because of the mega wetness weather we have here it's an inside job.  I just walked around the house and clicked 10 shots in a row.  The above is the final result.  My aim was that each photo was to be taken in a different room of the house, this I achieved.  As for the the 'artfullness' of my photographic ability. . . . . . . . one does have to start somewhere.

Main photo - This is a money box given to my eldest when he was born, from my parents, his Grandma and Pop.  It sits on my dresser along with photos and candles.  The reason it's on my dresser and not his, is that he and his brother wanted to spend their pocket money at canteen at school last term.  *ahem*

Collage and *( )* equals the room it was taken in
1. Map on wall (in my little ones bedroom)
2. New shoes that I bought today (kitchen floor)
3. Beautifully hand made felt sea creatures I purchased at our local Casuarina Spring Fair a few years ago (bathroom)
4. Butterfly coaster (lounge room)
5. Kids play kitchen utensils (play room)
6. Front door (front foyer!)
7. My eldest's cool dude bear (study alcove/nook on sewing cabinet)
8. My eldest's six times tables  - don't look too closely - I am so proud of him for giving it a go - my darling boy he works so hard.  (dining room)
9. Laundry basket (laundry)

While looking at these photos just now I see that every single photo has blue in it.  I also notice the strange angles of some of them, and the fact that I didn't even stop to tidy the bit of red trim on the little crochet placemat in the kitchen playset photo, so it looks like a piece of yarn is lazily messing up the spot just there.  *humph*  I didn't even click the nicer of the butterfly coasters, which has a lovely full butterfly right in the middle.  I didn't move/position a single thing.  I am sure the more I look at the photos, the more I will see that is 'wrong', however, as a collage, I can do nothing but smile.  I see my family, I see my little home, I see the 'things' that surround me each and every single day (other than the new shoes, but they will soon become part of the fabric of moi!)  I see the items that I walk past without even realising they exist at all.

What a lovely experience to open my eyes to shape and colour and items that surround me each and every single day.

Do join in and let me know if you do.  I will stick your link on my day 2 and share it with others if you like.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a lovely evening at your place.

10 x 10 x 10

Happy Monday to all my friends.

Is it raining at your place today?  Is it sunny at your place today?

It is raining at our place today - again.  But I am not going to complain, because we are not flooded, we have not lost our home and all the memories inside it, we are healthy we are safe.  I did notice my toes were looking a bit funny this morning tho, they seem to be growing some sort of 'webbing' between each toe, *ahem* you know, duck like.

The frogs love it, they love it so much they are 'singing' a never ending frog opera day and night, night and day, and day and night.  When one frog gets a croaky voice, his mate starts up to take over his spot and then somewhere on the other side of the swamp lawn another frog will join in the chorus.  I do love frogs, I love the little bright green frogs, I don't think these are the ones that are singing tho.  As long as they get the flies and mozzies, they can stay.

Ok enough about frogs, and onto my posting for the day.  I have been visiting some of my lovely blog friends the last few days and gosh, it's been festive, and holiday-ish, and busy-ish, and the creative juices are certainly flowing for the first 10 days of 2011.

I would like to share the following blogs with you.  This is of particular interest to me at the moment, I fell in love with this idea, and it's been bugging me to give it a go.  I believe it's open to invite and I urge you to check out the stunning photography of these very talented bloggers who are doing this little exercise.

It's called 10 x 10 x 10 which equals, 10 photos in 10 mins in 10 days.  Basically you just take 10 pics in 10 mins, and stick them on your blog for 10 days.  Ta-da!  Exercise complete.  To get the original, much better articulated version, please visit Nancy at capable of flying.  Scroll back to her first day for the instructions, and check out all her 'days'.

Here are some other lovelies that are following along - gosh these photos are great.

There is just one very small niggling hitch for me.  I need a photo mosaic making machine/downloady thing.  Here is where you can help me.  Do you have one for your computer?  Did you download one or sign up to one?  Do you love it?  Is it user friendly?  I have an applemac computer.

I hope to join in this 10 x 10 x 10 and say a huge thankyou to the originator, Nancy, for putting this up to share.

Cross your fingers that I get myself sorted.

I hope you are having a lovely day at your place.

So ok, I have just now been sitting in front of this open page for exactly 12mins. Blank. No words. Fingers not moving. Keyboard nerves? Stage fright? Blog bug? Staring at the photo of myself, looking back at me. What do I say? Happy New Year? Hi, it's Joyce? Whatcha been up to? How you doin'?

This is my first post for 2011, and perhaps I want it to be momentous, fabulous, and a whole other bunch of fantastical words that elude me right now. *sigh*

I have never been comfortable looking at photos of me. I don't know why, it's just the way it is, but as I sit here and look back into my own eyes right now, I see my family, I see my friends, I see so many people who have 'moulded' this person staring back at me. I see flashes of moments with them, I hear their voices.  ok, I think I have found my groove here now and am on a roll.

I see the freckles all over my face and remember growing up as a kid, being outdoors, spending time on my Grandparents farm, holidaying by the beach, backyard cricket, the old slip 'n slide, squirting each other with the hose and running through the sprinkler (way, way, w-a-y before water restrictions).

I see the crinkle lines at the sides of my eyes and they make me smile, because they are only there from the people that make me laugh, sometimes laugh so much that water pours out of my eyes and my shoulders do that uncontrollable shaking thing and I cannot speak cause I am laughing too much. Oh and then I have to run off and pee, cause, you know, I am laughing THAT much.

This year is another big year, full of plans, and goals, dreams and desires. I don't really have New Years Resolutions as such, but I guess these are the same thing.

In no particular order, here is some of what I would like to achieve for 2011.

- Finish my teachers aide course (currently just started unit 3 of 14 units.)

- Volunteer at Early Intervention playgroup each Friday.

- A midnight skinny dip in the ocean.  (This should be done at least once each year.)

- Squares for SIBOL

- Make at least 20 scarves to donate to the local Cancer unit.

- Take singing lessons - this will be my treat once my studies are over. Something I have wanted to do for such a long time and always been too scared busy to take that step.  This may possibly be a goal for 2012 at the rate my studies are going, but it's real now, it's out there, and once it's out there, well, there really is no going back.  *b-kerk* (insert chicken noise here).

- Walk more, much more.  I used to walk alot and I miss walking.

- Learn to use modern technology - to start with, my itty-bitty pink i-pod thingy.

- Bodyboard with my kids more, they are at the age now where they don't need me to push them with the wave, and we can catch waves together on our own boards.

- Make jams and spreads and yummy stuff from my new book, Windfalls by Sue Ruchel.  (Thanks to my dear friend Alison for this recommendation and a scrummy sample of her home made jam which is now totally all gone).

So what makes you tick for 2011?  What are your plans, and goals, dreams and desires for 2011?  Where to you want to be at the end of 2011?  How many more times am I going to type 2011??

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a lovely day at your place.
