Ending This Sock War Right Here and Right Now!!

It's over I tell you, I have had enough, no more, this is the end of the road. The sock war is OVER!! *phew* glad I got that off my chest. Ok so is this the sign of a domestic chic, or have I just gone totally crazy - you be the judge.

Here is the maths- 2 boys at school x 4 days of the week in navy socks = 16 navy socks, 8 in size small and 8 in size medium x (times by) a little boy who at odd times only puts 1 sock in the wash and the other (!!!!!) behind his pillow *?* Sock matching nightmare be gone says this crazy Mumma! Enough is Enough!!
They needed new socks, so I bought new socks. Six pair for both of them.

The solution - Little socks = red cotton. Big socks = blue cotton.

Until the big socks become the little socks, then we swap colours and carry on. Oh and still training my little one that BOTH socks go in the laundry basket please! Too much time on my hands you say? A-haaaa, I disagree, quite the opposite, this is a case of good time management and forward thinking. (Basically just over wasting time stuffing around with navy socks really.)

As for this ratbag bunch, it's puppets for you lot.

Aaaaahhhhhh it's sock valium - at last!

What boils you and how did you solve it?

P.S. Have a wonderful weekend at your place. In Australia, NSW its a long weekend and daylight savings begins early hours of Sunday morning. We still also have another week of school holidays and so I will be scarce here again over the next few days. Take care of you, huggle your family, laugh and love with your friends. Bless.

You crack me up... I solved that the boys wear the same size socks and being in thesame room all socks go in one draw... Yes i sometimes still have to chase them up but i bought the ones from Best n Less that have the number in red on the bottom....

Hope the holidays are going great for you we should catch up....

I'm a sock hound but get fed up with matching and putting them neatly away when they all end up in a clump anyway. So, thinking I was ever so clever, I started putting clean socks into a large fabric shopping bag that I could rummage through whenever I needed a pair....until my cat Ozzy has taken a liking to doing the same. You can see him running about with a sock in his mouth, and the sock waddling underneath him as he takes it away and hides it! Wasn't a good idea anyway.

LOL. My mum used to do that, but one step further. She is a firm believer that socks should stay in the same pair all their lives, so each PAIR had it's own colour thread. Jane's had a line of running stitch, mine had an A (from memory. I just get the girls the ones that have the sizes on the bottom and they all go into the sock box to be matched at the end of a folding session.

oh this is hilarious.....what mum hasn't encountered sock wars...I think you are being VERY VERY WISE with your colour theme thing....now its just a matter of getting the little men to 'get it' too!!!!

I have the missing sock problem with socks here. I have no idea where all these odd socks run off to, but they are never in the basket or in the wash! Sock gremlins, perhaps? Love your solution!

Have a wonderful time with your darling boys and hubby this weekend! :)

Yep, I have a sock fairy who steals one sock out of each pair, she also takes teaspoons very regularly and hair ties. sometimes she will develop a liking for a shoe and borrow it for a while. Always thought about pinning socks together as soon as they came of the feet. too much?

What a creative solution, Joyce! I must keep that one in mind for the future. Oh, and I am still laughing about the sock behind the pillow!!

After spending what felt a large part of my day retrieving dirty socks from all over the house, washing them, hanging them up, taking them down and pairing them I had a major rant at my husband (one of 3 guilty parties). I tipped all his clean paired socks on to the bed, counted them - 48 pairs!!!!!!!! and told him he was banned from buying anymore for the next 10 years. He was a little hurt and pointed out the next day when I had chilled a bit, that 2 pairs were our son's and I had actually bought him the 8 pairs of sports socks (still that is 30 pairs which I feel is more than any one pair of feet needs AND I have a bag full of his old holey ones I use as floor cloths)
