Why is my studio getting smaller? Oh yeah, 'cause I collect 'stuff'!!

The above is what I pulled out of my studio, lay on the floor, counted up and took this photo of. I then found three more bags of yarn when I packed this lot away. It's now all sorted and I left a bag of scraps out determined to make stuff, so that I didn't have to find a new home for it.
Above I have 20 sets of crochet flower hairbands paired up to donate to the school fete, from the 'scraps' bag. This little flower is so cute, you can do a different colour in the middle if you like. Click here for this super simple tawashi flower pattern, and make sure you check out Marte's blog. Thanks Marte for sharing.

Girlfriend - don't even go there with the scrapbook papers I own. There will never, ever, be enough clicks on my camera to pull out the papercrafts stash and take a photo. I will just share with you the 105 bookmarks I have made for the school fete. Basically I glued two pieces of pretty cardstock together, punched a hole in the top and threaded with DMC cotton and beads. You can laminate them, round the corners of them, thread with buttons, the list goes on.

*sigh* ok, so here it is, I am so nervous showing this. Here above is progress of my very special project that brings a huge smile to my face every time I pick it up. All my rainbow circles now have their little border attached. I have begun my plain 'sky' squares. To have a single border of sky around the blanket, I need to make 144 grannies. To have a double border of sky around the blanket, I need to make 212 grannies. I have not yet decided what it will be, however, I do know that I want to do a single crochet border around that again in each of the six rainbow colours, finished with a picot sky edging.

I feel rather nervous sharing this rainbow photo, I was only going to put the first photo on. It's rather quite personal to me, and I am a little worried, that well, you know, it's 'daggy' or 'not right' or well, not liked at all by anyone, when really that shouldn't matter at all, because it doesn't represent anyone else, it's straight from the beautiful sky that I have taken my inspiration, it's a rainbow blanket after all, and so to me, should be in it's true form. It's my family, it's all the heart and soul of me, hooked into this blanket, what can I say - I had a picture in my little head, and I sort of can't believe it's real, I can touch it, I can see it - I so like what I see, I love hooking the sky that will grow around it.

So thank you for taking a look at my little project.
Thank you for not laughing too loudly.

Do you become nervous about sharing a project that is close to your heart, that you weave yourself into, that used to just be a whim or a dream?

Joyce, I adore your blanket! I can imagine that no matter how bad a day I had or how dreadful I felt, I would feel a million times better after curling up under a blanket like that. And I have to say yes, I think I feel nervous every single time I post about something I create, make, bake, whatever! But then, I'm generally a bit nervous so that's probably no suprise!!

I love your blanket, what a fantastic original idea. I love it when you come up with something that is from inside you and not from what we see other people doing. I bet you have heaps of people copying you, a new trend shall be the rainbow blanket :-)

your rainbow blanket is fantastic! i truly believe we should follow what is attractive to us and create from that, we too often use patterns and emulate others, losing ourselves to their creativity.

Why would anyone laugh at your rainbow blanket? It's absolutely gorgeous and the grey/blue sky is just perfect for it. I have taken many rainbow photos recently, unfortunately in a way really as it means less outside play. I admire the way you can talk about how many sky squares there are to do without freaking out! Your family are going to love this blanket.

I love your blanket too joyce! Don't worry though, i felt the same when i finally released by rainbow granny stripe into the wider world than just my head and sofa. I was worried what would become of it, but after i'd put all the pictures up, I actually liked it even more! You can take a peek here if you'd like...

Your work is absolutely amazing.
So you are rather a card person than a crocheter then?

Hi Joyce, thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my blog, it was a lovely comment to read last night. :0) I have to tell you it is your beautiful rainbow blanket that i am drawn to time and time again, and seeing it on icrochet was what instantly drew me to your blog in the first place :0) It is simply stunning and I too can't wait to see it unfold and am glad that you told your story on how you were inspired to create it. Like papercraft crocheting is so individual and interpreted in so many different ways through each of us, thats what makes it so wonderful:0)I haven't made any cards for quite a few months, i have really enjoyed my break but have a few ideas starting to form combining bother papercraft and crocheting, so we will see what happens, maybe we can inspire each other :0). Seeing your frangipani flowers reminds me of some punched flowers that you can make that are frangipanis, I once made 40 for a client for some wedding invitations, I will see if I can get a moment and make some to show you - maybe you have already seen them ? I have added more colours to my hexagon blanket, I took another trip to the craft shop and they had more cotton in and well as you know the colours just all look so nice together that I got another 5 colours!! I am thinking this morning that I might look for a third hexagon pattern and combine the 3, or maybe be brave and make up my own - now theres a challenge!! By the way I am a Leo not a Libran ;0) I had better get off here, I am supposed to be working! Have a happy day Joyce, Annette x :0)
