Works in Progress. . . . and a new project.

I am going to post my WIP's on here each week if I can. Firstly to hopefully get me feeling guilty that I need to get a move on and finish them before moving onto the next 'big thing', but also to see them grow each week.

This crochet cammo rug is for my big boy, colours chosen by him, and I am thinking by the size of it, I will be done soon. Woo Hoo!

These colours can ONLY be chosen by one person, my Minnie, my colourful cheeky Minnie! You think you have seen these rugs before?? Correct you are, both of the above crochet rugs were made for my boys by me last winter, however, through their beautiful generosity, in Ethiopia, there are now two little children who will sleep warmer at night because my boys decided to donate their rugs, and I have made them each the same again as my boys said, when they go to bed at night, they know that there is someone else keeping warm with the same colours. (aww, so beautiful to hear my big boy say that)

oh yes, I have started the granny squares again, this time I hope to complete a rug for me. This little old mumma is feeling the cold and loves to snuggle too, besides this was a bargain buy and, well, who can resist a bargain when they see one!! oh and this is the first granny square, so if I want to snuggle under this winter, other than my toes, I had better get a move on!!

Ohhhh yes, the big dag that I am, just look at these lovely fabrics. I have opened the stash box and this is what I found, well this is a very small portion of what I found. Am thinking placemats oh yes, lovely placemats for my little family. Initially was thinking a single placemat and napkin from each piece of fabric, however, now I look at this photo, am thinking placemats just like this with a napkin from each fabric. They will be finished off around the edges with either a dark chocolate binding, or a charcoal to match the bowl.

Ok so it's out there now, all I have to do is put it all together.

I am off here now to snuggle with my sick little boy on the lounge, might even get some crochet done. He so wants to be feeling better for soccer tomorrow and I do hope he is.

Enjoy your Friday and I hope you get to finish some of your WIP's soon too.

Love thy Neighbour

Our neighbours are NOT EVER allowed to vacate their current residential address - NOT EVER, NOT NEVER !!

We went on a little family holiday for 4.5 weeks from our home, our beautiful neighbours looked after our home, yard, mail, bins and all those bits that need to be done on a regular basis around the home INCLUDING they mowed not only our front lawn, but our back lawn as well. Bless them - I say.

We come home to perfectly manicured lawns, empty mailbox, and cared for home.

We certainly hit the jackpot when we bought our little block of land in this beautiful piece of paradise we call home.

This is the little card I made for them to go with a selection of locally made goodies, from teas, to soaps, fudge, honey, and jams. I love gifting local produce, especially when it is just SOOOO delish, not to mention the local markets are held outdoors and the stall-holders are REAL people that LOVE what they do and they LOVE to talk about what they LOVE to do.

It's all about the love baby!!

Ode of Remembrance

"They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them."

To all our brothers, sisters, mums, dads, partners, aunties, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbours who are posted away from their loved ones, we are thinking of you all this Anzac Day, and pray for your safe return home.

Lest we Forget.

Blue Skies

Have you ever looked up to the blue sky while laying on the ground? Have you wondered just how blue it is? Have you sent your eyes even further and further into the pure drowning blue of the sky, trying to see the furthest point of blue that your little human eye can reach? Isn't it just wonderful!

The above is from my journal dated 23 March 2010 while travelling the last 7 weeks. Almost 5 weeks in our caravan and another 2 in Sydney to visit family and friends. I remember this moment so very clearly, we had just finished a picnic lunch at Coolangatta Beach, we were sun-kissed, our bellies full, we had nowhere we had to be, no appointments to keep, no phones, clocks, tv's, agenda's - we were kings and queens, nothing ruled us, we ruled it all, we ate when hungry, slept when tired, drank when thirsty, the moment was ours and we knew it and cherished every drop of it.

I have had this vision of that perfect blue sky in my mind to carry me through my day today.

May your day be full of clear pure blue sky, and if the clouds gather, may you be lucky enough, like me, to be surrounded by those that love you dearly.
