Sending Prayers

Again my heart is in my mouth as I watch in horror another natural disaster on the news on tv this afternoon, coming in from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Category 6.3 earthquake, in the middle of the day, Mums and Dads at work, children in classrooms, lunch break for many.

My prayers and thoughts go out to our neighbours.  I cannot believe what I am seeing on tv.  My heart breaks for the devastation I see on the screen.

'Whats on your Table - Tuesday', is taking a break this week.  I don't feel like talking about something so trivial.

To all my blog friends in New Zealand, my prayers and thoughts go to you all and your families.

Bless.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Oops, I almost forgot - it's Tuesday, yes, already, it's Tuesday!

Here is what is on my table this Tuesday.

It's bright, it's colourful, it's shapely.

I am prepping craft for the Friday playgroup that I help out with.
It needs to be easy, it needs to be quick, it needs to be something that little fingers can pickup and paste on.  It needs to be something they can take home and stick on the fridge.

We are doing shape matching this week.  I am about to cut out all those lovely bright shapes for the children, so that come Friday, they just have to choose their shapes to paste onto the matching shapes on the white paper.

Oh and the choccie cardboard is perfect for drawing up templates to make marking out a breeze.  I know, it would be so much easier to photocopy the pages, however, I am not at the playgroup until Friday and they have other sessions and office happenings going on during the day.   Besides, it has taken me away from my assignment which isn't bright and colourful and shapely and fun and giving my eyes a rest from black print on white paper.

I love a bit of hands on when I can get it, I love a bit of tracing and cutting to break up the day.  I am making up 12 sets of this activity and I hope I will have enough.

So what is on your table this Tuesday?
Do you have any exciting happenings at your place today?

Thanks so much for stopping by my place today, take care of you, and have a wonderful day.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

It's back, it's Tuesday, and it's what is on my table this Tuesday.
It's riveting, it's astounding, it's zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. . . . . .

It's section three of my studies for Teachers Aide, contributing to workgroup activities.  This is fine, however, then it turns into talking about me.  I have to talk about the best product in the world.  Apparently that is me - Joyce.

!!

Can I just talk about the awesome staff that I work with and how passionate they are about giving these little minds the hunger for learning?  Can I talk about the long hours they all put in, the meetings they have with parents, other staff and support staff to fuel up these little minds and find ways that makes those eyes sparkle and little hands raised to ask and answer questions and want more information?

Can I just talk about the stuff I do with the children and why I love it so much?  Can I just tell them that it's such an honour to sit down with a little one at the beginning of the year, introduce ourselves to each other, have a little chat about their favourite books or hobbies and find books that match their passion?  Can I just talk about how shy most of them usually are that first week, then we see this little personality begin to shine through and their confidence just bloom when they realise THEY CAN DO IT!!  Can I talk about how I feel on the last day of school when I see how grown up they all are, and how much they have achieved since day 1, term 1 - and how proud I am of them and at the same time a little bit of sad, that my little journey with them for the year has come to an end and that they are growing up right before my eyes?

Can I, p-l-e-a-s-eeeeeeeeeee, can I, can I, extra cheesssssseeee pleassssseeeeeeeee?

 hmmmmmmmm. . . .

So, . . . . pumpkin scones, jam and a cuppa for me.  I made 104 pumpkin scones last week and froze little batches of them - yummmmmm delish!
Also, those lp's are not for putting on the player - they are our placemats.  Yup, they are mega easy to wipe over, they are mega cheap, the kids love reading them, and they do the job.  Plus I like stuff that is 'multi-purpose'.

Thanks so much for stopping by my place today.

Have a wonderful day at your place and tell me, what is on YOUR table this Tuesday?

I would love to know.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Happy Tuesday Morning To You!

This is going to be my last Tuesday Table for a while. We have school holidays around the corner and I need to dedicate more time to my studies.

Today is an update of my Crochet Rainbow Blanket.

I am leaving this on the table for the whole day. I can't bring myself to remove it just yet, and I am thinking I should just do this heart in the middle of a blanket instead of the rainbow. There are just sooooo many options in my head with this right now.

What is on your table this Tuesday?

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Good Afternoon to all in blog-land. I apologise for being absent these last few days, it's been rather busy at our house lately.

This is what is on my table this Tuesday, there are 15 scarves to donate to the local cancer ward. I was hoping to have a few more done, however, will take another batch out when I get them made up.

Despite coming into the warmer months here, necks still feel the chill and I hope these bring just a little comfort and warmth to their new owners.

I hope you are having a lovely day at your place.

What do you have on your table this Tuesday?? I would love to know.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Fortune Cookie Quotes

Fortune Cookies

This was fun. A little fiddly, but still fun. I have never made fortune cookies before, they don't look like the restaurant type cookies, and they don't taste exactly the same, but they are lovely and buttery and our fortunes are just lots more fun and suited to 7 and 8 year olds, which is what we made them for.

It's China Day at school today. My eldest has been learning all about China and today they are having a lovely celebration lunch. The children are all dressed in red and yellow, the girls have beautiful outfits on, they just look stunning. Mum's are busy cooking and getting ready for lunch later today. The children will get to sample all sorts of wonderful Chinese foods.

So tell me, what is on your table this Tuesday? I would love to know.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Little pretties from my garden to brighten my Tuesday table.

Good morning to all my lovely friends. I have missed keeping in touch with you all these last few days, I feel very much quarantined from the planet at the moment.

Thank you for all your lovely comments and thoughts for me and my house of sick. I have finally acknowledged defeat, and have a Dr's appointment this morning. I don't want drugs, I know it's viral and drugs won't work, however, today is day 5 and that's 4.5 days too many. I just need my left ear, left nostril, and left sinus removed and I reckon I will be just fine thank you. While I am there he may as well take my left eye too, just in case. I figure the sooner these are removed, the less chance of infection leaking to the right side will occur.

Moving right along now, let's forget about the *ugg* for a moment, I found a lovely recipe that I would like to share with you all. It's mega super easy and ultra mega super yum, as voted by all of the family, which is a rarity. Chicken & Ginger Broth Luckily I doubled the recipe, as I thought it would do us two nights to save me cooking tonight. lol, Well ummmm, it was that good that we went back for seconds and thirds. There is now only enough left for one large serve or two smaller serves for tonight. Normally I prefer to cook from scratch, however, this is a great meal to cook when feeling *ugg*. Also, where it says discard the ginger, *ahem* I don't think so, I put the ginger in my sieve and ran it under cold water to rinse. It is now in a container in the fridge ready for my ginger and lemon tea for today. *Yikes* discard ginger - how dare!!

To those of you feeling *ugg* perhaps print out this recipe and place it where your family can see it and make it for you. It's so easy to make, and there is very little clean up involved for them.

My darling little African Violet in flower.

So tell me, what is on your table this Tuesday? I would love to know.

what's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Just look at those colours! You wouldn't think we had it cold and grey here today at all. I am working on a little project and it seems to be lookin' like it's going to work out just nicely, even if I do say so myself. Oh and yes, that is white elastic you can see that I am currently working into my last row of yellow.

Hmmmm, interesting, but I am unable to reveal just yet. What I can reveal to you, however, is how to make a beautiful perfect every time granny circle. All you have to do is go Here for a full and very simple step by step tutorial by the very lovely and ultra-mega-wonderful Alice. Make sure you say hi, I just know she would love that.

Enough chatter from me here now, I am off to do the 'rounds' lol of all my lovely blog friends and see what they have been up to these last few days.

So tell me, what's on your table this Tuesday?

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Little white motifs - $1.00 for the bag.
Big plans for these little cuties, but you will have to wait and see.

Incomplete Jumper $3.00

Incomplete vest $3.00
I don't feel bad unravelling these at all, it's the jumpers still on hangers in winter that I cannot bring myself to purchase and then unravel to use. I will wait for the heat of summer to purchase any winter 'unravel' stock. I think that is fair.
All this above was the same op-shop.

Across the top, 3 x tablecloths at $2.00 each - so love the pure white cloth, so many options for this one. The green floral is a huge round cloth, first thoughts were for a 'tabletop' for our picnic rug, but now thinking sundress for the Mumma.
Under that I have 6 x pillowcases at 0.50c each. Love these fabrics. The lovely bright orange is a little placemat and has a pretty floral pattern around the border. It was also 0.50c. It will go beautifully on our brown coffee table with little candles.
This is all st. vinnies op shop goodness.

2 x pattern books $1.00 each.
All this yarn here was priced differently and with other batches. I chose the skeins for $4.00 and the fellow at the counter could see that I liked these other bits so he told me I could have all of it for $4.00. I thanked him but told him I would give him $8.00 for it. He was chuffed and so was I. This was from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Op-Shop, they need the money, especially in rural areas where transport to major hospitals is such a huge distance.

So this is what is on my table this Tuesday. There was one other purchase, however, I don't quite have time to share this one just yet. I could not believe I found it to be honest, I think I am still in a little shock. So I will leave you now my friends, as I have lots of washing and unravelling to be done.

I hope you are having a lovely day.
Tell me, what is on your table this Tuesday?

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Not much again this week I am afraid.
This is my lunch for today, leftovers of broccoli and cauli cannelloni with avocado, tomato and pine nut salad. It's rather very yummy, I must say, and there is just enough left for another yummy warming lunch tomorrow - lucky me.

So tell me, what's on your table this Tuesday?

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Yes I am back, what is on your table this Tuesday. It can be any table, your coffee table, bedside table, hall table, dining table, work table, study table, kids table, even your times table, *giggle* yes, even your times table.

Today I show you my coffee table. My dining table is completely item free today.

From top left we have a little wooden noughts and crosses game, five lonely socks waiting for their partners to show, the front of my little nephews jumper, below that, the cast on back and pattern for my nephews jumper, and lastly some card games we have been playing of an afternoon. I was going to take the socks away, but that would not be quite truthful, I like the messiness of family, it's real, it's natural, and one day these socks are not going to fit my little boys feet anymore, so it will be lovely to stop by here in a few years time and just remember how little their feet were and how I will never solve the missing sock saga.

This is short and sweet for me today, I am off to work at preschool the next two full days. I am so excited and can't wait. I will be back on here tonight to check out what is on YOUR tables today, I can't wait to see what you have been doing at your place.

Have a wonderful, wonderful day.

what's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Good morning to all my blog friends. I do apologise for my absence of late, it's been rather busy at our place, but lots of fun, well other than the gruesome monster with mega sharp knives that slice so delicately through tomato - lol.

I haven't forgotten to come visit, I have missed keeping in touch with all the blog lovin' of late, and hope to be back 'regular like' this week. I will pop in and say hello to you all over the next few days and catch up with what you have been doing at your place. I so miss chatting to you all, and checking out your craftiness.

This has been some of what has kept me busy the last few days, along with committee, family, parties, farewells, baking for farewells, and general Mum stuff.

A collection of scraps. . . .

becomes a collection of little squares. . . .

with a little love and more yarn, becomes some snuggly squares to post to Mrs Twins to be made into blankets to keep others warm. This is what I made from the above 'scraps' of yarn. The two little squares that are not complete, will be very soon to add to the collection to post over. I just need more yarn, which won't be far away, once I complete a few other projects.

This is what is on my table this Tuesday. My squares for SIBOL
If you have 'scraps' of yarn and a little spare time, you can also make some squares to be made into rugs to help keep others warm. Pop over and have a look at all the stunning squares that are being made for rugs. Mine are rather 'plain jayne' compared to the talent that is showing up over there.

So tell me, what's on YOUR table this Tuesday. I hope it's something fun.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Aren't these flowers just divine!!
Gifted to me from the children and club at the soccer clinic last week. There are two bouquets in one, such glorious colours. It's amazing what a vase of flowers can do to the soul. Each time I walk past them, I have to stop to look and smell and just 'take them in'.

Just to be gluttonous, I am going to share what is on my coffee table as well this week. I cannot leave these beauties out. These were also gifted to me from a family whose children attended the soccer clinic, there were choccies to go with these lovely roses as well.
One very spoilt Mumma here right now.

The pink rose smells like lollies according to my youngest darling boy. I can't tell you how many times I have caught him walking past the table and taking a whiff. It's so lovely to see that he gets such sweet enjoyment from them like I do.

I am off here now for the day, a vote was taken and jammie day it is, we are going to spend the day doing not very much, possibly lego, jigsaw puzzles and lots of piles of nothing and then a bit of 'not much at all'. Oh other than three loads of washing, and I do have a committee meeting report to write as well as a newsletter to prepare, but when you are in your jammies for the day, then it's all so much more relaxed. I so treasure these days with my boys, because I know that one day these days will be over.

What is on your table this Tuesday??

Red frogs are on our table this Tuesday. We love red frogs.
It's an early bird post today, so not the best photo early in the morning.

Have yourself a hippity, hoppity day.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

There is not alot on my table this Tuesday. Actually other than this little treat I spoilt myself with just now, there is nothing on my table at all this Tuesday. I haven't been home until now, and just sat down to eat this, when I realised 'It's table Tuesday - what's on yours!'

I cannot share the recipe for this cake, its an orange cake with orange, coconut icing. What I can share with you, is the fact that it's very quick to make and tastes yummy, but I suppose that doesn't really help you at your place much at all.

I am a little sad today, we farewell a little family as they move on to a new home and a new town. I had coffee with the mum and other friends this morning before my meeting, and I am really quite going to miss her. Her children attend school with my children, and although we know, we will still always be in touch, it's not the everyday miniscule things we will share, which usually end up being the little things that give us a giggle for our day or make us feel we are doing ok or it's not just my children that are going through that 'stage'.

We wish her and her little family all the love and joy they so rightly deserve, and send with them a little bit of our hearts as they travel the road south to their new home.

On that note, I am outta here, I have an idea.

I always believe when one door closes, then it opens another, yes, the door to my little itty bitty brain has just *pinged* like the oven timer - open.

*giggle*, so what is on your table this Tuesday.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Not an iron that's for sure.
The slack chic didn't iron her tablecloth AGAIN!! On the up side of that, I am saving electricity, which is good for the environment. This cloth come from my hubbies Pops place. It's very summery, and has a lovely two-tone blue swirl all around the edge. I nearly didn't take it when hubbie's Mum asked me if I wanted it, but I am so glad I did. I could really see this in a wrap skirt with a little blue gathered hem and blue wrap ties.
(I can see everything being made into a wrap skirt lately)

Ok onto today's table. I have study books to the top left, yes, getting some done today woo hoo, (it's about time girlie - says the voice in my head). Then right in front of me, I have the NSW Foundation Font which I found last night, downloaded and also found the trace version which I have printed out for my little fellow. I tried finding the font so that I can share it here for those that would like it, however, can't find it. Grrrr, but if you would like it, please let me know, and I will see if I can locate it.

I am not sure if it's because I am left-handed, but my boys struggled with letter formation, I actually think that my eldest SHOULD be left-handed. I am about to put little arrows at the beginning of each letter to show direction and rule more lines. This set is for my youngest.

I have a cup of rosehip tea and my homemade banana cake for sustenance. The rosehip tea is divine, smells very pretty and looks very pink. It is in a cup that my youngest bought for me from the Mothers Day stall at preschool last year, there were choccies inside it (yes, THAT's the reason he chose that gift, aahhhh, my darling boy.) The plate it rests on I have had for years, bought at a garage sale, I got 2 of them they are made in England and have the stamp on the back of them. I have no idea how 'valuable' they are, I just know they are pretty and the perfect size for a piece of cake and cuppa.

So what is on your table this Tuesday?
It could be your coffee table, your side table, your studio table.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

*mehh* I would rather be cooking. Nowhere near pretty or decorative or exciting this Tuesday after our long weekend. It's my cleaning house, and 'determined to get some study done' day. The cleaning house bit is fine, that's easy, methodical, ritual, every Tuesday job. I have done the bathrooms, washing on the line, kids to school, bolt home removed washing from line, (impending black clouds), strewn over backs of chairs to finish drying, another load out of machine, bolt up to shops to get groceries, back home and unpacked, washing still draped over chairs (so glad I come home and brought it in, we had a downpour), ugg, I have a dryer but I dislike using it.

So now the study bit. Yes, section 2, made sweeter with a cup of Camomile tea in one of my favourite mugs. I have a few fave mugs/tea cups, and I like to share the love by giving them all a turn. I don't even have any cake/slice to go with my cuppa today. Things are grim, that's for certain.

What is on your table this Tuesday?

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Yes, another week is behind us and it's Tuesday again. Apologies for the fold lines in the table cloth. I really should do something about that.

Ok, now there is a little inspiration story behind today's table at my place. Firstly well oranges, don't you just love them this time of year, oh and mandarines, avocado, roma tomatoes, kiwi fruit, pink lady apples, butternut pumpkin, hmmmm, love winter produce. As for the inspiration bit, here it is - a newly found blog-buddy has inspired me to start 'using' things. I have so many lovely bits that I treasure so much that I fear to use them. Seriously, what is the point in 'saving it for another day'. So here it is on the table. Firstly the little cloth. Who remembers Hobbytex? I do, I remember Hobbytex, and you can still get it !! (No, Joycie, relax, you don't have anymore room to store a new project and tools, you don't have time to be getting into this.)

This tablecloth was done by my Grandma. You know what, she used it too. I remember her using it, so why do I hide it away with the other 'good stuff'? Silly Joyce. There are a few little marks on it to show it's been loved, so maybe it's now time for my family to show it some love, give it some memories from our table.

The other little piece, which is hidden under the tower of oranges, that my little ones are going to love when they get home from school this afternoon, (*wondering* who will be the first one to topple them??) is the platter. I bought this when I first moved out of home. It was from a little local gift-shop where I lived and they had the most wonderful, unique goodies. I have always loved a little 'different' one-off sort of items. It's painted purple and has lovely yellow lemons on it. This has alot of memories for me. It has lived in every place that I have lived, it has held up fruit, been a birthday cake platter, had glad wrap put over it, to mix paints for my little ones hand prints that I still do each year. Displayed pine cones, shells from the beach and dried flowers, held candles and at one stage been on my dresser with minature soaps on it.

One day, I won't be here anymore. When my children go through the cupboards, I want them to pull things out and say 'hey remember the time when. . . . . . ' crack up laughing, and have memories flood back to them all just from a piece of cloth/fabric/book/letter/photo. I want them to have those memories, just like I have those memories now.

As for me, the rest of my day is cleaning, washing, newsletters, phone calls, and hopefully by lunchtime, the study books come out. I am already halfway there with bathrooms done and a full clothesline.

Show me, what is on your table this Tuesday, and the story behind it.

What's On Your Table - Tuesday.

Yes, share with me each Tuesday, what is on your dining table, right now, this moment. Get your camera, go to your dining table and share with me what you have on there NOW! - - - - Go on, get going and show me, I want to see what's at your place today.

I have been feeling 'ugg' today, but have managed to get lots done in my very slow sluggish way. Thanks to my darling family for passing on the headcoldy thingy that is annoying me right now, but I WON"T GIVE IN TO YOU - no I will NOT - shoo you pesky beast, shoo!!

I can't sleep during the day, it makes my head feel worse, so I have been on the move, stripping beds, cleaning and trying to get my 'tuesday' done and out of the way, and I am getting there.

These gerbera's are from my garden, yes, they are still flowering, and they just make me smile. I haven't picked any for indoors until today, I just needed something little to make me smile and this was it for me today. As for my pumpkin, well it was there already. I don't like to shove him aside and I think they look good together on my table.

Come on, I am waiting, I want to see what is on your table today, are you working on something big? Are you having a cuppa? Just leave a comment and your link, so I can check out your table.
